job summary:

100 year old privately owned distribution company seeks a Senior Accountant to join their team. The Senior Accountant will assist with the maintenance of the general ledger by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information; maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by researching, verifying, and posting transactions.

responsibilities:
  • Prepare and update reconciliations - bank, bank transfer, etc...
  • Prepare and maintain analysis for assigned income statement and balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries as necessary, including month end accruals, allocations
  • Research and resolve discrepancies and errors in general ledger accounts
  • Prepare input sheets and obtain approvals to support wire transfers.
  • Perform intercompany analysis/reconciliation by working closely with counterparts at the company's subsidiaries
  • Assist in updating data for Census Reports.
  • Other assignments and special projects as needed.
 
qualifications:
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of Statutory accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Intermediate experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
  • Knowledge ERP Systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.

Company is currently working remote but will return to a Hybrid schedule shortly. All candidates need to be able to commute to Westchester County a minimum of 3 days per week.
