job description

job summary:

Responsible for reviewing programs, processes, claims, documentation and/or files to ensure compliance with internal company requirements and/or agency or government regulations. Functions may include evaluating processes to ensure business standards are followed; providing guidance to lenders and other staff regarding documentation and underwriting requirements; or evaluating in-process, closed, cancelled credit applications, insurance claims, accounts, files and/or processes to ensure company standards are met. Ensures corrective action on exceptions and problems identified, required data is input and proper procedures were followed.

responsibilities:
  • Prepare financial statement footnote disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Participate in corporate accounting activities, including account reconciliations and month end closing activities
  • Review financial reporting packages prepared by business units for compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Participate in streamlining / process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in Internal Audit compliance activities
  • Help coordinate the audit process, including year-end audit requests with the external auditors
  • Work cross-functionally to assist with company's internal control testing and documentation
  • Partner with corporate accounting on maintenance of new accounting guidance
 
qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA strongly preferred, or on CPA track
  • 2-5 years of progressively more responsible work experience in general accounting. Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Systems experience including SAP and HFM
  • Solid time / project management skills, demonstrated experience balancing multiple tasks and proven ability to complete projects timely and accurately
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data analysis tools
