Staff Accountant - Rockland County, NY

Our Client is a growing Medical Manufacturing Company in Rockland County, NY seeks a Staff Accountant to join their Accounting team.

This newly created role with partner with the Director of Finance to ensure accounting transactions are in line with GAAP.

The responsibilities include reconciling account balances and financial statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures.

responsibilities:
  • Analyze financial, operational, and inventory information by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information, and presenting results; prepares accounting reports, ad-hoc client reports, sales commission reports and capital purchase reports.
  • Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
  • Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger and from departments.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation including budget to actual variance analysis, analysis expenses.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
  • Perform, maintain, and confirm monthly reconciliations.
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes; ensures compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and oversight regarding quality of work, and regularly required assignments. Assists with the day to day tasks.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Partner with Director of Finance to complete projects.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization vision by completing related projects and duties as needed.
 
qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification or ready to take CPA exam is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years' experience in Accounting with thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience with the general ledger function and financial accounting statements.
  • Technical: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, h-lookups, etc) is REQUIRED.
