job summary:

Our DC based client has engaged us for their Corporate Accountant opening. This position is hybrid remote, so candidates MUST be local to the DC area or be willing to relocate.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Process all electronic and manual deposits to the bank
  • Responsible for the entry of deposits into accounting software
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly bank reconciliation for all bank accounts
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of monthly account reconciliations including receivables and payables
  • Assist with cash flow projections and maintenance

Accounts Payable:

  • Review invoices from vendors and distribute to managers and directors for approval
  • Continuous monitoring and ensuring that invoices distributed to managers have all been entered in accounting software
  • Follow up on all outstanding invoices not entered in the accounting software
  • Follow up with vendors and outside agencies for discrepancies
  • Back up to staff accountant for entering invoices into accounting software


  • Primary back up person to staff accountant for all payroll functions

Other Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate contributions and donations with fundraising team
  • Maintain the fixed assets schedule
  • Monthly update of deprecation schedule
  • Maintaining the InKind revenue and expense
  • Maintaining bank lockbox
  • Prepare reclassification journal entries as needed
  • Prepare financial audit reports and reconciliations, as requested. Communicate with auditors regarding prepared documents, explain or justify their content in alignment with GAAP
  • Provide support to controller and CFO as needed
  • Assist with annual budget
  • Assist with other federal reporting requirements
  • Assist with occupancy and communications and other allocations in accounting software as needed
  • Upload annual operational budget into accounting software
  • Design, create and roll-out accounting dashboard in accounting software
  • Compliant with HIPAA and PHI regulations


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with one or more years' experience, required
  • Experience in non-profit healthcare field, preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficient, required
  • Strong data entry skills, required
  • Prior experience in accounting software, required
  • Professionalism and strong work ethic, required
  • Attention to detail, planning and organizational skills, required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, required
