job description

job summary:
  • Prepares assigned tax returns, including but not limited to monthly sales/use tax returns, annual 1099's & 1042's, and property tax returns for submittal to respective agencies.
  • Reviews significant A/P invoices for proper sales/use tax accruals
  • Gathers fixed asset data and relevant information for accurate property tax filing for US locations
  • Prepares tax exemption certificates, and updates tax rates in the ERP system
  • Coordinates wires and check requests for payment of taxes and posts transactions in the ERP system to correct general ledger accounts.
  • Assists Tax Manager and External Tax Accountants in the preparation of state and local income/franchise tax returns in accordance with established due dates.
  • Assists Tax Manager in the preparation of tax provisions and tax-related financial reporting data.
  • Maintains all compliance records in accordance with document retention policies.
  • Prepares Business License and Personal Property Tax filings and coordinates payments
  • Assist with various other aspects of tax, including IRS and State audits

Must haves:

  • Utilize excel to complete detailed analysis of general ledger accounts
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field
  • 3 years experience on sales/use tax or other tax return preparation
  • Working knowledge of US Federal and State corporate income tax compliance
  • Proficiency in analyzing and reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries.
  • Ability to research current tax literature relating to sales and use tax laws.
  • Advance user of MS Excel (knowledge of pivot tables, v-lookups, and other advanced formulas highly valued)
