job description

job summary:

This is key position reports directly to the Tax Director and will be a key member of the Tax team and the purpose of this role is to prepare, plan, manage and review tax financial accounting, income tax compliance, indirect tax compliance, gov. exemintations!

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries, month end and /or review Federal and State Tax S corporation, Individual, Foundation, Trust and Estate tax returns.
  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax projections and review related estimated tax vouchers.
  • Prepare annual S corporation stock gifts to next generation shareholders.
  • On a quarterly basis, report on Accumulated Adjustments Accounts for S Corporations and required Foundation distribution amounts.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors to ensure complete and accurate tax reporting and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationship with Accounting Department colleagues in the Investment Division and Commercial Division.
  • Ensure that all tax returns are filed timely, and all refunds are received.
  • Maintain and update applicable tax basis schedules.
  • Participate in tax related projects including forecasting, planning and analysis.
  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax returns for entities and individuals.
  • Ensure the proper filing of sales & use tax returns, commercial rent tax returns as well as any other direct or indirect tax returns.
  • Be a technical resource for the various businesses when sales tax questions arise.
  • Manage tax audits and respond to tax notices.
  • Stay abreast of changes in the tax law as well as changes in the business and shareholders to provide tax planning ideas. Communicate these tax planning ideas to the CFO and if applicable to the shareholders in a timely manner.
  • Calculate the current and deferred income tax provision for accrual basis entities.
  • Work with the family office staff to ensure books and records contain all items necessary to support tax filings.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • CPA preferred, not required
  • 5 - 7 years' experience
  • Expertise with S corporation and Individual tax preparation including multistate taxation
  • Provisions sales tax, foundation, trusts and estate tax returns
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or taxation
  • Experience in Public Accounting a+
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, )
  • Strong organizational skills and Multitasker
  • Proficiency with electronic tax research and tax preparation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy while keeping a big picture focus
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Pleasant, easy going personality
