Valuation Analyst

A leading institutional investor based in Wash DC seeks a Valuation Analyst. The primary focus of this position is to support the Valuations Team in investment transaction monitoring & valuations, analysis of investments and funds, conduct in-depth research in to various investment and portfolio related topics.

- Assist in valuing each portfolio investment by building necessary cash flow, portfolio, option pricing and valuation models as needed, reviewing investment models and operating reports, and researching industry-specific events and materials

- Incorporate 3rd party data services into modeling and analysis tools, including Bloomberg S&P Capital IQ and others

- Maintain database of relevant market-based and transaction-based information

- Familiarity with standard valuation practices around multiples, capital asset pricing models, option pricing models, etc. with willingness to create/learn models not already templated

- Prepare and participate in regular portfolio reviews

- Collaborate with third-party valuation firms and auditors for periodic valuation alignment

- Work on internal corporate finance analyses including investor diligence requests, investment and fund sensitivities, back-leverage tests, and situation-specific projects

- Exposure to investments throughout the capital structure, including common equity, hybrid equity, structured debt, secured notes, and term loans

- Ability to communicate effectively with pper management and investors as responsibilities expand over time


- Bachelor's degree (Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics or Engineering)

- Minimum 1-2 years analytical experience in investment banking, asset management, corporate finance, or third-party valuations firm role

- Strong analytical and quantitative skills

- Strong financial modeling skills

- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

This position works on a hybrid schedule with the main office located in Wash DC. Salary is $80,000 - $100,000 + bonus + generous benefits package.
