Currently seeking a VP of Finance to support a mid-size publicly traded biotechnology company. This position will support all aspects of FP&A, financial analysis, as well as review the accounting work and work on special projects for the CFO. Position will have high visibility and be working with a CFO that wants to mentor someone to eventually be a CFO themselves. Qualified candidates will have 12+ years of finance, accounting, and FP&A experiences. Strong project management skills.

VP, Finance


The VP of Finance is responsible for directing the company's financial and accounting operations, while being a strategic partner to the CFO and CEO and supporting the leadership team in the creation of a long­ range plan, milestones, and financial projections. The role will own budgeting, forecasting, and support the monthly financial review process for the entire organization and become the expert and go-to resource for our overall financial targets and cash flow. The VP of Finance will lead and manage the development of the company's business plans. They will participate in strategic meetings, cross functional forums and become a critical business partner to the executive team. As the primary leader of the finance team, they will develop professional standards, provide mentoring, and expand the finance function as needed.


  • Support the company's management in defining and implementing a financial strategy
  • Support the company's management in the financial assessments of various ad hoc business initiatives, including operational restructuring, business development & licensing, and pipeline strategy.
  • Support the CFO in financing endeavors and other corporate activities as required
  • Plan, design, direct and coordinate all accounting functions and related systems and internal controls
  • Lead Financial, Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
  • Oversee preparation of all legal entities' corporate tax returns
  • Manage and prepare SEC, OSC, TSX, and NASDAQ reporting and filings
  • Manage the Company's stock option plan
  • Facilitate and assist with Audit Committee reporting and interactions
  • Key liaison for external auditors and external corporate legal counsel
  • Manage banking relationships and accounts
  • Manage relationships with insurance providers, lead the renewal process, and ensure compliance
  • Oversee hiring, training, and managing finance staff
  • Lead the month-end and quarter-end reporting process; be able to communicate the findings and action items clearly to Finance
  • Lead projects to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of the finance department as well as supported business partners
  • Timely and accurate reporting of financial information to appropriate groups, including internal parties, private equity investors, and outside agencies as requested


  • Minimum Experience: 12+ years in senior account capacity with publicly traded company
  • Minimum Education: University degree and accounting designation, (CPA or other) and/or MBA
  • Familiarity US GAAP, as well as Securities regulations


  • Proven ability to interact effectively with third parties, including external accounts, government, and securities agencies
  • Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and proven ability to effectively scrutinize and challenge assumptions and interpret the strategy and priorities of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and to communicate with various stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as team player, including complex, dynamic teams
  • Ability to maintain demanding timelines
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work simultaneously on multiple priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
