Kelly Leonard is an engagement partner for Tatum’s Seattle practice with more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing, food processing, banking, and construction industries. Kelly has a record of delivering sustainable growth, improving financial results and capturing cost reductions through capability building, process redesign, enterprise resource planning system implementation and performance management.

As an accomplished CFO with many years of experience in Latin America, she has extensive experience in finance, human resources, operations and corporate transitions, such as turnaround, mergers, green-field operations, and acquisitions both in the US and abroad. Kelly speaks Spanish fluently and has a great working knowledge of Portuguese.

Previously, Kelly served as chief operating officer, responsible for the daily operations of a $250 million, multiple-site lumber manufacturer. In this role, she built an in-house IT function, re-built the accounting team, and created long-lasting processes. During the great recession, she negotiated a $110 million syndicated loan which was completed in tandem with an acquisition and merger. Earlier in her career, Kelly oversaw the internal audit department for a public manufacturing company and as international controller, set up IT and accounting functions in Latin America.

Tatum professional highlights include:

·         Interim Controller for a $100+ million construction company. Primary directive was employee retention with improved morale for 30-member team. Increased team satisfaction with zero turnover while maintaining daily activities, documenting department processes, increasing process efficiencies, and strengthening internal controls.  

·         Project-based work for $10 million start-up manufacturer. Created accounting framework and prepared startup for its first audit by creating financial records for prior 2 years. Guided leadership team in its hiring of a controller, identified revenue recognition issue and worked with developers to develop an automated solution. Created quick, early methodology for quantifying and costing multiple-site inventory and developed a long-term strategy for inventory management.

Academic and professional credentials:
Kelly received BBA in accounting from Boise State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Duke University. She is a licensed certified public accountant (CPA). In addition, Kelly is an angel investor with Pipeline Angels and volunteers with Cascade Bicycle Club.
